Cadaver

A cadaver, also called a corpse in medical literary and legal usage or when intended for dissection, is a deceased body.〔New Oxford Dictionary of English, 1999. cadaver Medicine: or poetic/literary: a corpse.〕〔The (obsolete ) British term ''lich'' for ''corpse'', sometimes spelled ''lych'', is no longer even listed in major British dictionaries such as Longman, Macmillan, Cambridge, or (Oxford Online Dictionaries ). However, the term ''lich'' has been revived in modern fantasy fiction for a type of "undead" creature.〕
